On
Friday 8 September 2007 the KZN Chapter of SASLAW hosted their
fourth annual Ladies' Breakfast at The Blue Zoo in Mitchell
Park, Durban. The function is aimed at promoting the interests
of women in the labour law/IR environment as well as affording
them the opportunity to exchange ideas and opinions, and has
proved to be a very popular event. This year was no exception
and 42 women in the HR and IR field attended. Judge Dhaya
Pillay was the guest speaker and she adopted an interactive
approach and debated the role of women in the profession with
the delegates. It provided the platform for a fascinating
discussion and, most especially, for the sharing of ideas
and experiences.
Each
delegate was given a "goodie bag" thanks to the
generosity of our sponsors, Lexis Nexis Butterworths, Innoxa,
Glamour, Unilever, Blue Zoo, Plop Imprints and Deneys Reitz
and a portion of the proceeds was donated to the Open Door
Crisis Center, a center for the victims of rape and other
violent crime.
It was a most enjoyable and successful event and one we hope
will continue for as long as it is needed.
